    Vital to the success of PIRCH is procuring the right products for our customers and having the right inventory on hand at the right time. An essential component of this is working with our vendor and distribution partners to become experts within the brands you own while purchasing the right products at the right time for our customers. Working with internal and external partners, the role will focus on maximizing profitability. The work of this role is critical to margins, customer satisfaction conversion percentage, and PIRCH’s overall ability to create great customer experiences.

     

    WHAT A GREAT BUYER DOES: (among other things):

    • Works closely with Plumbing and Appliance/Outdoor Directors of Merchandising to develop, implement, and maintain buy strategies/stocking programs
    • Evaluates purchase needs to determine the best possible source
    • Proactively works with Distribution Center Teams to actively reduce inventories
    • Assists Distribution Center Teams with reduction of unallocated inventory
    • Purchases for and maintain a specified set of major brands
    • Tracks trends in sales to provide direction to Merchandising Team
    • Supports Sales Consultants, Sales Administrators and Project Coordinators with information and product availability requests
    • Works closely with vendors in negotiating discounts for large sum orders, promotions
    • Participates in vendor meetings with Merchandising Directors
    • Participates in vendor product knowledge meetings in store locations or vendor facility to become brand expert
    • Performs other duties as required and assigned

    EXPERIENCE/ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
    • Two or four-year degree preferred
    • Inventory management or purchasing experience preferred
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
    • Minimum two years of ERP experience, Great Plains preferred
    • Appliance and/or plumbing knowledge is a plus
